Moments of joy in August
In Portugal you have the month of the donkey or the month of the bride - August for us, with an imminent album launch and tour on the way, was the month of the day trip.
But first - let’s talk about music!
STARLITE.ONE was released on 1st September and to celebrate I recorded my first-ever play-along video on bass for No Treble Magazine in the USA. Check it out on their website.
In guitar news, after months of deliberation and research, Simon excitedly took delivery of his incredibly sexy and cool Firehawk guitar from Springer Guitars, France. He needed a new sound for the tour and if you would like to join him on in part one of a deep dive about what goes into ordering a custom guitar, you can read his article here.
Time off…
We are notoriously bad at taking time off from work. Organising the album release, and all the aspects of the tour (we do literally everything) takes its toll.
Even doing what you love, seven days 1000-2400 - albeit punctuated by sessions at the gym and exercise - is just too much, so this month we made a pact to take one day off a week and escape with the girls.
We have found a place where we can rest our souls in the company of the Oceano Atlantico just an hour’s drive away - a perfect place with no mobile phone signal to kidnap our attention. The atmosphere is so peaceful.
One week we dined out and ate the most delicious fresh fish. The next, we equally enjoyed the delights of a home cooked picnic in the shelter of our beach-tent home - relaxing on the sand, thoughts drifting into a deep sleep like babies, with the heat of the sun and the sound of crashing waves cleansing the stress from our bones.
In September we are on tour for three weeks and really looking forward to sharing moments with you from the road.
Until then, I hope you enjoy these moments of joy….
